Coco & Eve is my favorite self tanner; natural looking color & relatively easy to use because you can see where you apply it. Buff in circles using the mitt!
That chicken orzo recipe sounds amazing, especially with adding spinach at the end.
I’m also interested in these sunscreen options— I ended up with a rash last year from (probably expired) coppertone and unicorn snot sunscreens after AIDS LifeCycle, so I need to find something that will work for me without causing too much skin trauma.
I just love how much you packed into this post. I am especially moved by your comments that "community care will save us when we need saving." I have found that to be true in my personal life, but believe it also applies in the times we live in for our vulnerable communities. I hope to be a "carer" for those who need it. Thank you for the beautiful language.
Oh, and I am definitely making that chicken orzo. Like, tonight. Yum.
I use nivea water gel for my body sunscreen. its only downside is that like other korean sunscreens, it doesn't come in very large bottles. on the plus side, unlike other korean products, you can get it on amazon or at some big box stores.
i am also a pale white girl, and i use isle of paradise drops in medium for my face. the color is so great - olive-y brown, not orange at all! i mix 3 drops into my moisturizer every 4-5 days. i have struggled with finding body tanners that are not too orange, so i am considering trying mixing these drops into lotion for my body too, although i'm not sure how fast i'd go through it!
Regular user of Saltyface 🙋🏻♀️ Super love it, very natural glow / not orange at all. I recently ordered the spray top and brush and like that application better than just drops in my hands. I only really use it on my face/neck/top of chest in the winter months.
I like the Supergoop in the giant thing - I get it during the sephora sale so it's less expensive. I use the Glowscreen as my tinted moisturizer foundation situation and I LOVE it, but I haven't tried the body version. I also love the TJs sunscreen, one of them is 10000000% a dupe for the Supergoop Unseen.
As for self tanner, I use the Clarins drops. You add it to your body lotion - I do 3 drops lower leg, 4 drops upper leg - and it works great. No streaking, natural looking color. I will say it's not going to make you look like you spent a week sunning yourself on a beach somewhere, but it takes the edge off, if you know what I mean. Last summer I used Tax Luxe The Gradual, which I liked, but I felt it leaned a little more orange and less natural than the Clarins drops.
I also got a pair of Maison Miru nap earrings for Christmas and I LOVE THEM.
Supergoop Play in the large pump size prices out to be pretty much the same as, like, Neutrogena, and the huge pump of it all makes it feels easy to put on.
I love the jug! I bought one a few summers ago and my spouse left it outside when I was out of town and sadly, it didn't really survive the 105+ degree Sacramento heat.
The Trader Joe’s sunscreen is almost an exact dupe of Supergoop & much cheaper! Sadly I’ve only found it in the travel size so it’s not full body functional (unless you are a mouse I suppose). Thanks for the earring rec!
Was just coming here to say this. Reporting in from Texas (SO MUCH SUN) and I probably bought ten bottles of the daily facial last summer. One of my sons uses it on his entire body. :o)
Also for the quick back spray, TJ's also has a great spray.
Lots of good stuff in here! I’ll be back in the morning to click some links.
I hope you never think that we think you’re silly when you share something around your writing. As a non-writer I find the process interesting. I’m sure other writers find it even more interesting.
Less/fewer, a good word and a good joke.
Hiiii! Big fan of Aveeno Protect + Hydrate with SPF 60.

This is encouraging! I feel like we are both on the fairer side (understatement) so this feels promising :) Thanks, Ashlee! <3

Oooh, I love Clarins in general, so this is promising. And the NAP EARRINGS!!!

Thanks! I have used their facial sunscreen and like it -- I'm looking for a body sunscreen now, so I think I'd wipe out a tube a day haha.
I second the TJ's sunscreen! The daily facial sunscreen gel is great.
I love it too! I need a body sunscreen -- face is covered!

I will try their spray! I love that facial sunscreen, but am looking for a full-body one.

You're always so kind. Thank you!
Nap earrings are a thing?! I must try! Thank you.
Changed my dang life. I love these Maison Miru ones so much.
I know you said you like a spray, but this is my favorite sunscreen I think I’ve ever found: https://tula.com/products/daily-sunscreen-gel-broad-spectrum-spf-30
I love Tula! I just need a full-body situation.
